A Winter Passage

of Kinship & Remembering

Together we listen.

January 20-March 21, 2026
A nine-week rite of passage process invites you to enter the deep season of Wintering.

“When the north wind has whipped every last leaf from every tree, a hush falls upon the dark air.  The Deer Woman emerges amongst the barren skies. She digs into the icy blackness for a single bone, hatching, birthing her clavicle from her own chest. It is a key. There are those who have arrived in the shadows behind her not knowing why or what for, but they are here in this space of betwixt or between. Deer Woman senses their waiting.  Using her clavicle key she opens the house, a bone house, a space that transects both time and life.”

A movement and creation structure has been opened for those seeking to slow down, nourish their inner resources and practice artistic presence. Listening to the old ways, Mary Lynn Lewark and Tamara Mahoney, welcome you to the quiet practice of Wintering and the mythic story of the Deer Woman.

What will we do?

The Moovment Class, led by Mary Lynn Lewark, is rooted in the principles of the Ilan Lev Method, reacquainting each person with their innate nature to move with ease. This gentle, playful practice supports nervous system regulation, joint ease, agility, and a renewed sense of possibility. Over time, the physical explorations will evolve into a story-based movement score, where the body begins to speak in its own language of curiosity, instinct, and meaning.

The Painting Process, led by Tamara Mahoney, is simple, welcoming, and designed for all levels of experience. We use a gentle oil-paint technique where you don’t have to “know how to paint”—you explore by wiping, lifting, and revealing shapes rather than trying to get them “right.” We open each week with an intention to guide your hand, and the painting unfolds as you give space for the image to reveal itself without pressure or expectation. Instead of trying to build a perfect picture, we let what’s underneath come forward one layer at a time—like uncovering something already there. The process is intuitive, calming, and surprisingly grounding.

Who is Wintering for?

This course is for anyone in wishing for weekly winter retreat. It is for those who might be parenting as a path in need of time for self-care and renewal. It is also for artists or leaders in search of a journey to contain and guide the fruition of a deeply held dream.  As well it is for those in recovery or transitioning through a life change. It is even for those navigating all of these at once. We created Wintering as a nourishing passage to become, to be held, to remember and collect the truest part of ourselves.   We know wholeness and certainty are vested in simple old time ways. People have always gathered in creation, movement and community as a way of grounding what needs to be tended dearly. The growth is exponential.

No experience is needed. Open to all levels.
