Red Thread/White Bone:

A Winter Passage

of Kinship & Remembering

Together we listen.

January 12-March 21, 2026
A nine-week rite of passage process invites you to enter the deep season of Wintering.

“When the north wind has whipped every last leaf from every tree, a hush falls upon the dark air.  The Deer Woman emerges amongst the barren skies. Some say, she digs into the icy blackness for a single bone, hatching, birthing her clavicle from her own chest. It is a key. There are those who have arrived in the shadows behind her not knowing why or what for, but they are here in this space of betwixt or between. Deer Woman senses their waiting.  Using her clavicle key she opens the house, a bone house, a space that transects both time and life.”

A movement and creation structure has been opened for those who want to slow down, nourish inner resources and practice presence. Listening to the old ways, Mary Lynn Lewark and Tamara Mahoney, welcome you to the quiet practice of Wintering and the mythic story of the Deer Woman.

The Details

Through movement, art, and story, we journey together into cycles of descent and revelation—excavating memory from the body, uncovering images from the canvas, and weaving our stories into a shared space of myth and meaning.

What will we do?

Each week we will have a Moovment Class and oil paint prompt and process. The Moovment Class, led by Mary Lynn Lewark is based in the principles of the Ilan Lev Method, that reacquaints one's innate nature to move with ease. The class promotes nervous system regulation, joint ease and agility, renewed joy and possibility. The class will evolve into a story based movement score. Who is Wintering for?

This course is for anyone in wishing for weekly winter retreat. It is for those who are parenting as a path in need of time for self-care and renewal. It is also for artists or leaders in search of a local residency to contain and guide the fruition of a deeply held dream. It is also for those in recovery or transitioning a life change. It is even for those navigating all of these at once. We created Wintering as a nourishing passage to become, to be held, to remember and collect the truest part of ourselves.   We know wholeness and certainty are vested in simple old time ways. People have always gathered in creation, movement and community as a way of grounding what needs to be tended dearly. The growth is exponential.

No experience is needed. Open to all levels. Opportunities for studio time and future collaborations.
